, MAIS... est un recueil qui survole trente-cinq ans d’écriture. Poésie d’abord timide ( Je n’ai que mots journaliers ), exprimant le doute, le doute de sa propre existence jusqu’au doute menant à la fragilité de la vie ( Je naîtrai loin des nudités d’horloges mécaniques, là d’où l’heure a pleurée ). Elle croît par la suite en intensité et en maturité ( Mon œil myope immigre moite dans l’ombre de mes mains ). Les poèmes ne sont pas en ordre chronologique, mais regroupés plutôt pour permettre au lecteur de glisser d’un thème à l’autre, évoluant vers la densité intérieure et explosive d’un homme au passé secret et à l’avenir incertain (Voilure de marbre usée aux siècles mouillés). Les textes sont comme des photographies d’émotions prises sur le vif dont on ne peut détacher le regard. L’auteur prétend qu’il est peu probable de pouvoir arrêter la lecture dans la dernière partie du recueil pour autre chose que respirer. Cette poésie gagne à se lire à voix haute pour en apprécier la saveur subtile des rythmes et découvrir la richesse sonore des sens. À la mer l’homme mouille la mort.
