Ça sert à rien. » Malgré sa passion pour le cardio, mon hamster mental a finalement compris ceci : passer par-dessus cette peur du silence ou de l’ennui et insérer plus de riens dans son quotidien ouvre la porte à une source infinie de cadeaux cachés. Avec ce livre, je te guiderai sur le surprenant chemin du rien. J’essaierai de rendre le vide attachant, tout doux, tout nu. On commence?C’est assez simple. Au lieu d’optimiser chacune de ces secondes pour tenter d’être efficace ou pour essayer d’aller plus vite que le temps, tu peux simplement prendre la main de ton attention et l’inviter ici : dans la marche, dans la file d’attente, devant cet éternel feu rouge et ainsi de suite. J’ai adoré l’idée et ça a changé bien des choses dans ma façon d’aborder mon quotidien. Premièrement, par rapport à la procrastination. On fait des actes de gentillesse destinés aux gens qu’on aime, on leur prépare des surprises, de douces attentions ou on ramasse notre vaisselle parce qu’on sait que c’est agréable pour la ou les personnes avec qui on partage notre quotidien. Donc, si je perçois la Laurie du futur de la même façon, comme quelqu’un qui mérite aussi de la gentillesse, j’ai soudainement moins envie de procrastiner. — Il fut un temps dans ma vie [et ça revient encore parfois] où je jugeais mes idées. Une petite voix dans ma tête leur répondait chaque fois : « Ça va être plate, tu n’es pas assez bonne, tu vas perdre ton temps. » On ne s’en rend pas trop compte en général, de cette petite voix qui étiquette nos élans et leur met un prix à rabais. Mais à force d’entraîner notre esprit avec la pratique du rien, on en devient plus conscient et on finit par entendre ces chuchotements qui peuvent parfois guider notre vie à notre insu et filtrer nos choix. Elle est bien intentionnée, elle veut nous protéger au fond, cette petite voix. Elle représente notre peur d’être blessé.e, jugé.e, rejeté.e. Une bonne façon de lui prendre la main et de l’amener à avoir confiance est tout simplement de mettre au monde, doucement, nos idées.
